The power situation may have improved in various parts of the city, but there’s no relief in sight for the residents of east Delhi.

The rise in the temperature and humidity have also pushed up the power consumption in Delhi with the peak demand scaling 5,439MW on Tuesday.

Power department officials labelled it has load-shedding and said the outages were restricted to one hour and were done on a rotational basis. They also said that the Bamnauli-Pappan Kalan and Mandola-Gopalpur 220 KV lines which suffered massive damage in the May 30 storm have been restored. “This will provide major relief to south, west and south-west Delhi,” said a senior power department official.

To improve the situation in east and central Delhi, the overhaul of Gas Turbine unit at Pragati-I power plant has also been completed.

The power department has also instructed Delhi Transco and the three power distribution companies to prepare long-term network upgradation plans for transmission and distribution networks in the city.

Earlier, the Delhi government had also launched a toll-free number (1800-11-2222) to file power-related complaints is in case a consumer is not satisfied with the the response of the customer care centres managed by the discoms.
