With a large number of people thronging chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Police forces have made special arrangements to manage the influx of visitors.

While the UP Police will manage traffic and crowd outside the premises of Kejriwal’s residence, a team of plainclothes officials of the Delhi Police will remain inside the housing society to manage the crowd and prevent any untoward incident, a senior UP police official said.

The Ghaziabad police have also installed a metal detector at the main gate of the society where Kejriwal lives. The Delhi CM’s residence in Kaushambi falls under Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh.

“Hundreds of people are coming... and when he (Kejriwal) comes out to meet them, it becomes chaotic. It is difficult to manage the crowd. In order to prevent the situation from going out of hand, the Delhi Police will be taking care of the crowd at his residence and we will manage the traffic and crowd outside,” SP Singh, public relations officer of SSP Ghaziabad, said.

Meanwhile, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh said that the party had not demanded any security cover for the chief minister. “We have just asked them to manage the crowd.”

True to his stand against so-called VIP culture, Kejriwal has earlier refused ‘Z’ category security. He travelled in a Delhi Metro train on Saturday to reach the swearing-in venue. In its first meeting, Kejriwal’s cabinet has decided against bureaucrats and ministers using red beacons.
