The BJP’s Delhi unit has a lot to look forward to on Saturday. Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, who heads the party’s central election committee, is expected to share his strategy of reaching out to the electorate through various media with party workers in the capital on Saturday.
A media workshop is being organised on August 17, wherein all state media convenors, co-convenors and spokespersons have been invited to give their presentations on the media policy they have framed.
In addition, they have been asked to submit the election strategy they have prepared for the assembly polls and the general elections to be held in 2014.
Apart from Modi, national party president Rajnath Singh, senior BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Amit Shah and others are expected to be in Delhi. They will give tips to the convenors in reaching out to the public.
Sources said this workshop is aimed at toning up the party’s communication strategy ahead of the elections. Also, the Delhi BJP has been in the news for its in-fighting rather than taking steps to connect with the people.
“All the poll-bound states have been asked to submit their election strategy for the assembly and general elections. They will submit whatever measures they have adopted so far and what they plan to implement,” said a senior BJP leader.
According to sources, the workshop is aimed at making the convenors aware of how to exploit the social media and other forums in connecting with the masses.
“The workshop will start around 9 am and continue till 10 pm. All senior BJP leaders will share their experiences and suggest various ways of connecting with the people, especially ahead of the Delhi assembly elections to be held in November. All the convenors have been asked to give a detailed list of the various media that they have employed so far and the result it has yielded,” added the leader.
The Congress too, is organising a workshop on social media on August23, which is expected to be addressed by Rahul Gandhi.
