There was growing speculation that Shazia Ilmi may contest Lok Sabha polls against Congress president Sonia Gandhi, sitting MP from Rae Bareli even as some new faces like Jaspinder Narula, famed for her hit ‘Pyaar toh hona hee tha’ Bollywood number, and former Indian hockey team captain Dhanraj Pillai joined Aam Aadmi Party.

On her joining, Narula said, “I had worked on a Savarkar project and realised how much our freedom fighters had struggled. Compared to that, we are not doing enough. I found AAP to be the only party that talks of a corruption-free India.”

The party, however, neither confirmed nor denied the report. “We are yet to finalise our candidates,” party spokesperson Dilip Pandey said. Other joinees in the party were Dr Geeta Arya, Janata Dal (United) Bihar secretary, Dr Anil Kumar Bansfore, a Dhanbad based social activist and Gen PC Panjikar from Bihar.
