A local court on Wednesday extended the police remand of NRI Anoop Singh Kahlon, Sandeep Singh, Kuldeep Singh and Kulwinder Singh Rocky, who had been arrested in connection with recovery of heroin, till March 16.

The police told the court that during interrogation Kahlon had revealed that he had hidden 12 packets of heroin at a deserted place in his native Jandu Singh Wala village in Jalandhar district, which needed to be recovered.

Kahlon's lawyer opposed police's plea seeking extension in his police remand, saying the police wanted to implicate his client in a false case. The lawyer requested the court to get his client medically examined as he was being tortured physically. The police told the court that Kahlon's medical examination is done daily. The court ordered the police to get Kahlon medically examined and submit a report with copy of medico-legal report to the court of area magistrate by 10 am on Thursday.

The Fatehgarh Sahib police also presented in court kabaddi player Amandeep Singh, who was brought on production warrant from Burail Jail. Amandeep was arrested by the Chandigarh Police recently for possessing 200-gram heroin. Police want to interrogate him as they suspect that Amandeep had links with Kahlon. In the court, the judge asked Amandeep about his lawyer, but he said that he could not arrange a lawyer as he was not aware that he would be presented in a Fatehgarh Sahib court.

Meanwhile, another suspect Sunil Kumar, a resident of Ludhiana, was presented in an Amloh court, where he was remanded in police custody till March 15.
