This New Year, employees of government offices in Gurgaon district have a reason to cheer. The district treasury officer Satyavir Singh Bhatotia on Thursday announced the launch of the e-salary system.

With the help of customised software, pay bills for all offices will be prepared and submitted online after a database is created with employee details like salary, deductions, bank account and other personal details.

The information will be collected in ES-1, ES-2 and ES-3 forms available on the internet and they can also be downloaded at A training workshop for DDOs (district disbursing officers) will be organised soon to familiarise them with the new system.

The e-salary system will reduce the time taken in the treasury offices to clear pay bills. This type of system is already in use in Chandigarh and Panchkula.

The technology will help government employees avoid financial hassles in the event of a transfer. January 2012 onwards, there will be no need to send a Last Pay Certificate (LPC) as all details will be available online.
