A day after BJP president Rajnath Singh’s English bashing, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Saturday that it was an “illusion” that English was the only means of progress.

“True education is to develop feeling and dedication for the country,” said Bhagwat at the inaugural function of a school building here.

Rajnath Singh had on Friday said that the spread of English had “hurt Indian culture”.

Bhagwat, who skipped political matters in his speech, came down heavily on the fast-deteriorating quality of education.

The prevailing education system, he said, was not in the country’s interest.
