The Noida Authority announced on Wednesday that it would deploy 10 security guards for each of the six metro stations in Noida, after an HT campaign highlighted the safety and security concerns of women commuters on that route.

The six stations are Sector 15, 16, 18, Botanical Garden, Golf Course and Sec 32 City Centre.

"The new arrangement will be operational within a week," said Noida CEO Rama Raman.

The Noida Authority has asked the Noida police to help these guards.

"One sub-inspector rank officer will be in touch with them and guide them for proper implementation of rules and regulations. In case of any mishap, they will contact this officer," said Raman.

These guards will ensure the area is beggar-free and auto-rickshaw drivers and rickshaw pullers outside the station maintain discipline, so that commuters are not hassled while entering and exiting stations.

The Noida Authority has also ordered repair and beautification of metro stations and adjoining roads and footpaths.
