RC Faldu was elected unopposed on Tuesday president of the BJP’s Gujarat unit, giving him a second running term.
As part of the organisational shake-up of the state unit, the BJP also appointed 27 heads of units in cities and districts.
“This time, the party has taken the approach of repeating present incumbents not only at state level but also at local levels. Of the 27 district or city heads, more than a dozen have been repeated,” a BJP leader said.
Faldu is a low-profile leader who had a smooth partnership with chief minister Narendra Modi in the first term.
In the assembly polls of December, Faldu lost in the Jamnagar (rural) assembly segment.
Faldu will announce his team after consultation with Modi and other leaders by the end of this month.
