A 22-year-old woman from Delhi was allegedly raped and dumped in a Faridabad jungle by the driver of a car who had offered her a lift, police said.
The alleged incident allegedly took place on Tuesday, though a case of rape was registered two days later.
The woman was waiting for a bus to Delhi near Bata Chowk on National Highway 2. Around 7pm, a car stopped in front of her and the driver offered her lift to the Capital.
“The victim got into the car. The driver took the car towards the jungle and raped her in the car,” an officer said quoting her complaint. “The accused also took away her cell phone,” the officer added.
The police have launched a hunt for the accused.
The woman said she was dumped somewhere near Ballabgarh. She had a struggle with the accused, during which she suffered minor injuries.
Around 8pm, a biker sighted her alone. She requested him to call her husband and a friend in Faridabad. Later, the friend arrived at the spot and took her to her south Delhi home.
The woman, a housewife, told her husband, a property dealer, about the incident. They approached the Sector 7 police station here on Thursday. Following her statement, policemen had her medically tested for rape and a case was registered the same evening.
The woman told the police that she had gone to Faridabad to meet her husband’s friend in Sector 8. The police said that barring the colour of the car, she did not remember any other detail.
“We have asked the victim’s friend to join the investigation. It was he who had gone to the spot after the biker called,” another officer said.
The investigating officer in the case said that about a half a dozen drivers of silver-coloured cars were produced before her, but she could neither identify the car nor the driver.
