Five killed in landslide near Pithoraghar

Five persons were killed and three others seriously injured in a landslide near a Dharchula village in Pithoragarh district on Sunday afternoon.


The landslide was triggered by incessant downpour continuing for past 24 hours.

The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

The incident occurred at around Vyaldhara under Pangla police station at 2.30 pm when a group of local passengers were crossing an under-construction road after leaving a taxi.

Pithoragarh district disaster management control room has identified three of the five deceased as Dharma Singh, Rukam Singh Hayanki and Shoban Singh.

The identity of the other two is yet to be ascertained.
