Five Vaishnodevi pilgrims die in accident in Samba

Five pilgrims were killed and eight others injured when a tempo they were travelling in collided head-on with a truck at the Jammu-Pathankote national highway, police said on Tuesday.


The victims, all family members, were on their way back to home in Patiala after visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine when their vehicle clashed with a truck in Samba district in Jammu late on Monday night, they said.

Five pilgrims died on the spot and eight others were injured. The injured have been hospitalised and two of them are in critical condition, police added.
