Foreign cultural troupes to take part in Dussehra festival

Six foreign cultural troupes would participate in the weeklong international Kullu Dussehra festival this year to entertain the audience at Lal Chand Prarthi Kala Kendra here, said Kullu deputy commissioner Rakesh Kanwar.


This festival would be organised from October 14 to 20 at historical Dhalpur grounds, in which foreign cultural troupes from Russia, Nepal, Spain, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Indonesia would enthrall the audience with their performance.

Besides, 13 cultural troupes of different states of India would participate in the event, including popular Himachali folk cultural troupe.

He said to boost the Kullvi folk culture, the festival committee has decided to give opportunity to local cultural troupes.

Besides, the district administration has made all arrangements for the event. Around 1,700 police personnel would be deployed for security reasons during the event and 25 CCTV cameras would be installed at different places in the city for strict vigil.

Governor Urmil Singh will be the chief guest on the opening ceremony of the weeklong Dussehra festival and chief minister Virbhadra Singh will participate in the concluding ceremony.
