Four cops arrested in Kashmir on extortion charges

Police in Kashmir have arrested four cops on the allegations of extortion, officials said on Thursday.


They said that four police constables were taken into custody after complaint by a Srinagar resident that he was stripped of Rs. 50,000.

“The complainant had stated that he was robbed by some armed uniformed men at Solina in the city,” said the official police spokesperson.

Police station Shergarhi arrested Bilal Ahmad Ganie, Javed Ahmad Lone, Showkat Ahmad Malik and Manzoor Ahmad Hajam.

“Investigations in the matter are going on,” the spokesperson said.
