Over 30 people, including 15 security personnel, were injured as fresh pitched battles between youths, protesting the Ramban firing, and police erupted at several places in curfew-bound Kashmir on Saturday.
The Valley has been seething with anger since the killing of four civilians in BSF firing in the Ramban area, 200 km from Jammu, on Thursday. Around 40 civilians were also injured in the firing.
Police fired teargas shells and rubber bullets and swung batons to quell the violence as clashes took place at a number of places in Bandipora, Baramulla, Shopian, Kulgam and Budgam, officials said.
Earlier in the day, at 4 pm, authorities decided to open traffic only from Srinagar to Jammu. The Amarnath yatra also resumed in the evening.
About 1000 vehicles, mostly of Amarnath yatris, from Kashmir division crossed Jawahar tunnel and passed off peacefully.
At 5pm a batch of 1834 yatris left from Jammu base camp. They are expected to reach the base camp in Kashmir by late evening.
However, the local administration said the decision to allow the next batch on Sunday would be taken only after reviewing the situation.
