Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) legislator Ramesh Wanjale, who represented Khadakvasla, died here following a massive heart attack on Friday, a party spokesman said. He was 45.

Ramesh Wanjale, the man famously known as the 'gold man', and the only Pune MLA elected from Khadakwasala constituency in 2009, passed away in Jahangir Hospital last night following a cardiac arrest.

Wanjale complained of chest pains and was rushed to Joshi Hospital off Bhandarkar Road. He was later shifted to Jahangir Hospital as his condition deteriorated. Wanjale is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. Wanjale's body was later sent for post mortem.

General secretary, MNS, Pune Anil Shidore confirmed the news of Wanjale's death. Shidore said, "Doctors at Jahangir Hospital tried everything possible to save Wanjale and it was decided to conduct an Angioplasty. Wanjale's condition worsened and he died during treatment at about 10.05 pm."

Meanwhile Raj Thackeray along with other senior MNS officials left for Pune to attend the funeral.
