The government may have a tough time in the Rajya Sabha this session as the Opposition may join hands on some key legislations it plans to introduce.

The Cabinet had approved amendments to laws governing functioning of factories and training by industrial houses and they are likely to be introduced in Parliament next week.

Approving these bills would be difficult as the Opposition would demand them being referred to parliamentary standing committees for further examination. Labour reforms bills have been stuck for long because of the opposition within Congress and by Left parties.

Another bill on which the government may have to do some explaining is the SEBI amendment bill that has been diluted by the NDA government. The government has announced its intention to amend the Land Acquisition Act and MGNREGA Act.  The Opposition, led by the Congress would oppose the changes as these laws were legislated after a long process during its 10 year rule.
