The government on Thursday promised to look into reports that claimed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s office had asked the then environment minister to act against Adani Port and SEZ.

Environment minister Prakash Javadekar said in the Rajya Sabha that the news report was ‘very revealing’ and the government will place the information (before the House) after finding out all the facts. He was responding to a question by AIADMK’s V Maitreyan, who also sought to know if the ministry had any inbuilt mechanism or ad hoc committees functioned at the whims and fancies of political masters.

“There is a startling revelation (in news reports) about the exchange of email intercepts between the office of a political leader (Rahul Gandhi) and your predecessor (Jayanthi Natarajan). This is regarding the Mundra Port of Adani Group and the Special Economic Zone. There are a lot of hoc Committees were formed,” he said.
