A senior MNC executive, who used to cycle daily to his office in Gurgaon, was killed after a speeding car hit his bicycle on Friday morning.
Twenty-eight-year-old Arun Kumar Garg was on his way to work at the Unitech Cyber Park in Sector 39 when the accident took place.
A resident of Jalvayu Vihar in Sector 31, Garg was employed for the past three years as a senior associate on the Fidelity International account at Sapient Global Markets.
He worked out of the Fidelity office at Unitech Cyber Park. In a condolence message issued by Sapient, Garg was remembered as a "pillar of strength" and was described as "an extremely bright and diligent employee whom everyone loved working with."
According to the police, Garg met with the accident when a speeding TATA Indigo car hit him just opposite the Cyber Park at 8.50 on Friday morning.
"The victim was rushed to the Medanta Medicity Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The driver of the car bearing a Delhi registration number fled, but we have impounded his car. The police have registered an FIR against unidentified persons and we are on the look out for the culprit who will be caught soon," said assistant sub-inspector Subhash of the Sadar Police Station.
"We are shocked and deeply saddened by the untimely demise of our colleague. We will do everything in our capacity to support the family in their time of grief," said Rajdeep Endow, managing director of Sapient India.
Meanwhile, he added, "We at Sapient are aware of the need for better infrastructure in Gurgaon and know the hardships that all commuters face. As a member of NASSCOM, we have been working with them to raise awareness on the need for safety for commuters on Gurgaon roads. We will continue to work for this cause."
