Guv presents President's police medals to 90

Governor NN Vohra on Monday presented the President's police medals for gallantry and distinguished and meritorious services to 90 police officers and men at an investiture ceremony at Raj Bhavan.

According to the official spokesman, the awardees include 36 President's police medals for gallantry, five President's police medals for distinguished services and 49 President's medals for meritorious services.

"These medals were awarded to the J&K police personnel during 2011 and 2012. Among the recipients of the medals were the next of kin of one of the gallant policemen, who had laid down his life for safeguarding the security of the nation," said the spokesman.

The governor interacted with the recipients of the medals and lauded their valour and devotion to the duty. 

Chief minister Omar Abdullah, deputy chief minister Tara Chand, finance minister Abdul Rahim Rather, minister for medical education Taj Mohi-ud-Din and minister for urban development Nawang Rigzin Jora were also present on the occasion.

Senior police officers present at the investiture ceremony included PL Gupta, SP Vaid, DR Doley, VK Singh, SM Sahai, Dilbagh Singh and Sheikh Owais Ahmad and all additional directors general of police.
