Fifteen policemen, including two assistant sub-inspectors, were suspended on Thursday after a video clip that showed them celebrating Holi, boozing and dancing inside a police station in Gwalior, went viral on social media.
Gwalior superintendent of police Dr Ashish directed Purani Chawni police station town inspector Preeti Bhargava to identify the personnel who were seen boozing and dancing to raunchy Bollywood numbers inside the police station immediately after the video went viral on Wednesday.
Some policemen were seen taking part in the revelry in uniform.
Apart from two assistant sub-inspectors, 13 constables were identified from the clip.
“Their behaviour is unacceptable. All the 15 were put under suspension and an inquiry has been initiated against them,” Ashish said.
City superintendent of police (CSP) BS Raghuvanshi has been asked to conduct an inquiry into the incident.
The suspended policemen were celebrating Holi on Tuesday as they were busy doing duty on the day of the actual festivity to maintain law and order in the area.
