The Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice has constituted a two-judge committee to probe the alleged sexual harassment of a woman additional district judge by its HC judge.

According to sources, the decision to appoint the two judges panel was taken after Chief Justice of India RM Lodha asked MP HC Chief Justice AM Khanwilkar to initiate an inquiry into the allegations. The CJI issued the orders within days after he received the complaint by the victim who resigned after no one in the HC paid heed to her pleadings.

“Yes I had asked the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court to probe into the allegations. I had made the request about four-five days back. I have asked the High Court Chief Justice to submit me a report at the earliest,” CJI Lohda told HT.

The lady additional district judge had accused the sitting judge of sexually harassment, compelling her to quit. She put in her papers on July 15. However, she did not specify the allegations in her resignation letter.

In her complaint to the CJI, she, however, said the judge concerned was also instrumental in getting her transferred from Gwalior to Sirdi after she resisted his advances.
