The council of ministers in Haryana will have two new inductions on October 29.  Governor Jagannath Pahadia will administer the oath of office and secrecy to two MLAs- possibly Savitri Jindal (Hisar) and Aftab Ahmed (Nuh), on Tuesday at the Raj Bhawan. Subsequently, the number of ministers in the Cabinet, including the chief minister will go to 14, which is the upper limit for number of ministers in state.

Two vacancies had fallen vacant after independent MLAs- Om Prakash Jain (Panipat rural) and Gopal Kanda (Sirsa) were forced to tender their resignations following registration of criminal cases against them. Both belonged to Bania community.

Sources said this time former minister Savitri Jindal, who comes from Bania community, was a strong contender for a Cabinet berth. She is the mother of Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal.

Aftab Ahmed, a Meo Muslim from Mewat is also considered a frontrunner for a ministerial berth on the grounds that there is no representative of Meo Muslim community in the council of ministers. He is the son of former Congress minister Khursheed Ahmed and is also a chief whip of the Congress Legislature Party.
