Two pilgrims died while 20 others sustained injuries after their stationary canter was hit from behind by a fast-moving truck near Narwana town of Jind district on Friday. The pilgrims were on their way to Jaipur after paying obeisance at Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu.
The deceased were identified as Kuldeep Singh and Phool Chand, residents of Jaipur.

The pilgrims parked their vehicle near Belrakha village of Jind district on national highway(71), when a fast speeding truck hit the vehicle from backside, killing two people on the spot, while 20 others with injuries were rushed to the Narwana civil hospital.

Meanwhile, the driver of truck fled from the spot taking advantage of chaos, leaving behind his vehicle.

Some of the injured were later referred to Rohtak medical college for treatment due to paucity of space at the Narwana hospital.

Notably, seven people had died and 9 were injured in a similar accident in 2013 near Dakal village on Hisar-Chandigarh highway.
