Haryana: 52 people stranded due to floods rescued

52 people, including 15 children, stranded on a tract of land in Haryana's Yamunanagar district due to floods triggered by heavy rains, were rescued today.

Villagers stranded on Yamuna banks

The district administration have roped in teams of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the army to airlift 50 villagers, including 15 children, who are stranded at Lapra village in the district due to flooding of the Yamuna river.

Suspected honour killing in Kurukshetra

Local police on Sunday arrested a man, who suspecting 'illicit' relations, allegedly killed his 17-year-old daughter at a Kurukshetra village on late Friday night. The matter came to the fore when police recovered the body of the girl from a well at Khairi village, about 20 kms from Kurukshetra town on Sunday.

Kin held in minor's honour killing case

The police on Friday arrested a man in connection with an honour killing of a minor girl of Narnaund's Azamshahpur village. The accused, Jai Shankar, 30, is the paternal uncle of the victim's father. Earlier, Class-10 girl's father Hemant Kumar, mother Gayatri Devi and paternal uncle Khilari were arrested on May 8. A court remanded Shankar to 14-day judicial custody.
