An eight-year-old Class- 4 student was abducted and sexually abused in a SUV by an unidentified person near Gharaunda town in the district on Tuesday.
Superintendent of police (SP) Abhishek Garg said that a cash reward of Rs. 50,000 had been announced to anyone furnishing the details about the whereabouts of the accused.
Victim was abducted from Phurlak village while she was returning after attending a school at around 2 pm. After she did not reach home, her father approached the police at Gharaunda.
After a hunt of about three hours, she was spotted near in vicinity at Moonak village, located on Karnal-Panipat border.
Garg said that the victim was in a state of shock and unable to narrate much.
According to the victim, the accused was alone in a white Innova SUV.
After offering her a lift on the pretext of dropping her home, the unidentified accused sexually abused the child and left her at an isolated place near Moonak village.
“Police teams are zeroing on the vehicle matching the description provided by the victim of the rape. We are also scanning the official vehicles moving to and fro Indian Oil refinery in Panipat from where the victim was found,” said the superintendent of police.
