Additional sessions judge RS Chaudhary on Monday sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs. 17,000 on him, on failure to pay which, the accused would have to undergo an imprisonment of additional six months. The court, however, acquitted the second accused in the case for lack of evidence.
According to prosecution, a villager under Cheeka police station lodged a complaint with the police that his 15-year-old, a student of Class 9, was missing since the night of July 25, 2012.
Hoshiyar Singh, a resident of Paprala village, and his friend Soni of Ahmedpur were also missing from their houses about the same.
A couple of days after the filing of the case, the police arrested accused Hoshiyar Singh from Anandpur Sahib and also recovered the girl.
A medical examination conducted confirmed rape. Two days later, another accused Soni was also arrested.
