The accused, Shiv Charan, a Sanskrit teacher at the government school at Nigana Kalana village under Tosham police station of Bhiwani district, allegedly committed the crime on November 6.

According to details, the victim, 16, stopped going to school after November 6 and when the family asked her the reason behind this, she did not say anything.

The police said she reported the matter to her mother on Friday alleging that the accused had raped her after he asked her to bring water for him into a vacant room. When she went there, the accused committed the crime and threatened her against reporting it to anyone, she alleged.

On Friday, the kin of the victim reached the school and reportedly manhandled the accused teacher, following which the police had to intervene. Protesters locked down the school and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.

The Tosham police said a case under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC, SC/ST Act and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act had been registered against the accused. The police said they were trying to arrest the accused.

Meanwhile, school headmaster Ramesh Kumar told reporters that he would write to the authorities for a departmental action against the accused.
