1) IPL players auction in Mumbai

Eight IPL franchises will pick a maximum of 76 players on Monday out of more than 350 who will be auctioned this year. This is the last auction of the 10-year cycle after which all players are set to go back into the auction pool. There is likely to be a strong focus on buying uncapped Indian players, such as Jharkhand batsman Virat Singh and teenage sensation Prithvi Shaw. Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Starc has pulled out of this year’s IPL season, ending his association with Royal Challengers Bangalore.

2) Cash withdrawal limits for savings account holders increase to Rs 50,000 a week

Cash withdrawal limit from savings bank accounts will be relaxed to Rs 50,000 per week from today to March 13, the RBI has said. On January 30, RBI allowed withdrawal up to Rs 24,000 per week from savings accounts.

3) New chief minister of Nagaland to be chosen today

The Nagaland Peoples’ Front will meet to decide who will succeed TR Zeliang as chief minister. Zeliang resigned on Sunday amid protests triggered by the government decision to reserve 33% seats for women in urban local bodies. Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio is believed to be the frontrunner in the race to succeed Zeliang.

5) PM Modi to spread the BJP message in Jalaun today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address election rallies in Jalaun’s Orai and Phoolpur in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, a day after he accused the Akhilesh Yadav-led UP government of practising discrimination on the basis of caste. Modi slammed the state government at a rally in Fatehpur, saying the ‘exile of development’ must end in Uttar Pradesh.

6) Trump to announce new security advisor within couple of days

President Donald Trump may do another round of interviews for the position of national security adviser with new or existing candidates on Monday as he scrambles to fill the post following the ouster of Michael Flynn. Trump interviewed four finalists on Sunday and may meet with some of them again on Monday, White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders told reporters. The national security adviser is one of the most senior jobs at the White House, holding broad influence over US foreign policy across the globe and presiding over the National Security Council staff.
