Sources in the Bhakra Beas Management Board have said that Bhakra dam received more than 1-lakh cusec water on Saturday. The average inflow of water on regular days is 30,000 and 40,000 cusecs.

The dam's storage capacity is 1680-foot water level. On Sunday, the water level in the dam was 1,596 feet, nearly 66 feet more than the level last year.

The highest water level in Bhakra was 1687.36 feet on September 22, 1975, while the lowest ever was 1628.84 feet on October 1, 1993.  Apart from electricity generation, Bhakra also supplies water for irrigation purposes to partner states of Punjab Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi.
