Discontent within has forced the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to put its two parliamentary candidatures on hold in Himachal Pradesh.

Jai Chand Thakur (Mandi) and Subhash Chander (Shimla) do not have the vote of the party workers, since both managed ticket without even being members. Thakur was put in the race on March 31 and Subhash Chander on April 8.

Sources said the disgruntled workers had even approached the party leadership in Delhi to ask for verification of the antecedents of the two. “The party has a principle of zero tolerance to corruption,” said a source.

One of the aspirants for the Shimla ticket, DR Kashyup had produced documents to show pending recovery of Rs. 20.18 lakh from Subhash Chander for allotment of corner house in Sanjauli to him during his services as SDO in Shimla Municipal Corporation. On Monday, the party responded that it was looking into the matter.

AAP state convener Desh Raj said: “The nominations are under review and the party is likely to decide in a day or two.”
