Despite repeated requests of residents and leaders of various political parties, the alleged failure of the police in apprehending the culprits has lead to sense of insecurity and resentment amongst the residents in and around the town.

The burglars, besides decamping with cash worth thousands of rupees last night, also made attempts at certain business establishments.

Reliable sources in the police revealed that the culprits stuck at four shops, situated near deputy commissioner's office, and after breaking open the locks, took away the cash. Besides striking at the Capson Chemist shop, the burglars also broke open the locks of two grocery shops and a mobile shop last night.

Additional superintendent of police Padam Chand said that shortly after receiving the information, the police teams visited the spot and started investigations. He said that besides intensifying patrolling, policemen in civil dress have been deployed at various locations in and around the town to nab the culprits.
