Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said on Monday that P Mitra would be the new chief secretary of state.
"Some allegations have been levelled against   Mitra. I have sought the information on that, and as soon as the allegations are cleared, Mitra will be appointed as regular chief secretary," said the chief minister talking to media here on Monday.

Recently former Director General of Police ID Bhandhari had levelled serious allegations against Mitra. Bhandhari has accused Mitra of violating section 118 of the land tenancy act to felicitate a person when he was holding the revenue department.

Mitra had been officiating as chief secretary ever since chief secretary Sudripto Roy suffered a brain stroke in October last year. Currently, P Mitra of 1978 IAS batch is the additional chief secretary (home).

Further, the government has decided to appoint Sudripto Roy as advisor to the government. Roy who was admitted at the Medanta hospital is now in Delhi and is expected to return next month.

The government has further cleared decks to regularize Sanjay Kumar as director general of police. Kumar on his return from Central deputation was given the additional charge of director general of police. Director general of Police B Kamal Kumar retired in July last year.
