Three killed in road mishap

Three persons died on the spot while three others sustained grievous injuries in two separate road accidents in the district during the past 24 hours.


The deceased were identified as Karun Garg and Ravish Gaba, residents of Nabha in Patiala district of Punjab, and Jatin Gupta of Salogra village in the district. The injured persons - Jaspreet, Karan Goel and Sahil of Nabha - were first rushed to primary health centre Dharmapur, and later referred to the PGIMER, Chandigarh.

The first accident took place near Mandoodhar village under Dharampur police station when five occupants of a car- Karun Garg, Ravish Gaba, Jaspreet, Karan Goel and Sahil  were returning to Nabha after celebrating the birthday of Ravish Gaba at around 11pm. Investigations revealed that as soon as the vehicle reached near Camphar resort on the Sooki Johari- Garhkhal road, the driver of the car lost control and the vehicle rolled down into around 200-feet deep gorge, leaving two boys dead on the spot.

In another accident, Jatin Gupta of nearby Salogara village, died on the spot after his scooter was allegedly hit by a truck near Anji village on the Kalka- Shimla National Highway on Wednesday. The driver of the truck absconded from the spot. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their family members after post-mortem.
