Land of opportunity. World’s largest democracy. Aspirational India. Young India. As glorious as these descriptions sound, as majestic our achievements and our phoenix-like rise, our collective failures have also been many. Healthy economic growth in the last two decades has sputtered in the last few years, and many of the basic needs of a population, be it health or an end to chronic hunger, are yet to be achieved.

India is still a country that is home to one-third of the world’s poor. It has seen a sustained period of high inflation and low growth, which threatens to waste our demographic dividend. Our democratic and political order has faced serious challenges in the past year and policy paralysis has become a catchphrase of sorts.

Be it a new development paradigm that includes sustainable business models, equitable distribution of wealth or a better and more responsible government, the nation needs solutions to problems, which won’t be easy to find.

The Hindustan Times Leadership Summit has brought these issues to the table in the past 10 years and set new ambitions for the nation. Given the challenges, it is time to look for new solutions, and there won’t be any without innovation, optimism and above all, leadership.

The 11th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit brings together thought leaders from the country and around the world to debate how to build a better and more inclusive India.
