A hoax phone call that a bomb has been planted in Gujari Bazaar (Sunday market) area in the Old Cityforced police personnel to undertake a comprehensive search operation in the area on Sunday.

Police said that the control room had received an anonymous call in the morning claiming that a bomb has been planted in the locality.

"As soon as we received the information, we reached the spot and scanned the entire area. We did not get any bomb from the spot," assistant commissioner of police (ACP) 'E' division Antrip Sud said.

"We are not taking any chances. We are still confirming whether the call was hoax or not. We are also trying to figure out who the caller was," Sud said.

The phone number to which the call was traced is switched off, as of now, police said.
