A terror attack was averted with the recovery of a powerful improvised explosive device on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, defence sources said on Delhi on Thursday.

Army troops recovered the IED from under a tree on the side of the Highway at Nandini in Udhampur district yesterday.

The IED consisted of two separate plastic boxes - one containing approximately one kg explosives in the form of mud paste and the other containing explosive and wires, the sources said.

Both the boxes had the stamp of MET department, New Delhi, they said.

Security forces also recovered four electronic detonators, four rounds of ammunition and one binocular from under a boulder in a stream in Doda district on Wednesday, they said.
