Singh , who was one of the speakers at an event in the Nehru Centre on Friday evening, said he had received lucrative offers from two leading publishers — Harper Collins and Penguin — to write his autobiography.

“The offers are so good that even if all else fails, I can have a good life,” the independent Rajya Sabha MP said.

“It will be in three parts: Corporate India, Bollywood and Political India,” Singh said, reflecting his background in the corporate sector, links with film actors and his key role in several major developments in contemporary Indian politics.

Singh added, “Politics is my religion, but I don’t use religion for politics…. I love controversies, only those who do something become controversial. I am beginning to prepare the documentation for the autobiography.”

Singh, who was once close to Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and film star Amitabh Bachchan, did not name any individuals but said if he spoke out, many people would be exposed.

So, he said, it was best that his autobiography were released after his death.

The event, organised by the UK-based alumni of Jamia Millia Islamia university, was attended by Indian high commissioner Ranjan Mathai, former chief election commissioner SY Qureishi and Oxford professor M Talib, among others.
