IITs to decide on quota break-up today

A high level meeting in the Capital on Wednesday will prepare the blueprint of the proposed expansion of the Indian Institute of Technologies.

The meeting will decide upon the percentage of OBC students to be taken in the IITs in the first phase this year as per a recent Supreme Court order.

Sources reported a difference in opinion among the directors on introduction of the OBC quotas in the first leg of admissions this year.

Surendra Prasad of IIT Delhi, Ashok Mishra of IIT Mumbai, Sanjay Dhande of IIT Kanpur, MS Anant of IIT Chennai and Damoder Acharya of IIT Kharagpur will discuss the matter with officials of the HRD ministry and convey their decision to the ministry by Wednesday evening.
