Incessant rain in Hamirpur disrupts traffic, power and water supply

Normal life was disrupted in all parts of the district for the third day on Monday following incessant heavy rain that has been lashing the region continuously.

Worst affected was Sujanpur block of the district that is located on the left bank of the Beas river. Roads were closed for traffic and water supply and power supply was snapped due to falling of poles on roads.


Labourers of the public works department, power board and the irrigation-cum-public health department were busy clearing their respective services.In Hamirpur, the water supply was restored in the afternoon hours.

Meanwhile, Hamirpur deputy commissioner Ashish Singhmar has asked the field agencies of the revenue department to keep a track on the activities of rain in their respective areas and report the damages caused in their respective areas to the district administration for providing relief to the affected persons.

Singhmar has also warned the people living on the banks of Beas river and other khuds to more to safer places as more rain was anticipated in the next 24 hours. He urged them not to venture near rivulets during heavy rain
