"Across the Himalayan barrier India has sent to the west, such gifts as grammar and logic, philosophy and fables, hypnotism and chess, and above all numerals and the decimal system."
- Will Durant (American historian)
India contributed so much to the world in various fields, so much to its own citizens to be proud of. Yet, Independence Day and Republic Day are perceived merely as a break from regular work. It's value is nothing more than that of an off-day.
It's rather shameful that Valentine's Day is celebrated with more zeal than patriotic festivals in our nation.
You can quote a million things wrong about India, but at the end of the day it's important to stop, think and respect all that this nation has given us.
