Protesting against what they termed as “false case” of assault and theft against Indian National Lok Dal's (INLD's) former legislator Nishan Singh, several party leaders along with workers staged a protest in front of the Tohana police station in Fatehabad district on Saturday.

Stating that the police subsequent to the protest gave a clean chit to Singh, a release said that the leaders withdrew the dharna after the police authorities assured them of an action against police personnel who falsely implicated Singh.

The release said besides legislator Rampal Majra and Rajya Sabha member Ranbir Prajapat, several former legislators and ministers along with workers staged dharna and gheraoed the police station for over five hours against the false case against Singh whose name was allegedly included in a case of dispute between a house owner and his tenant.

The INLD leaders alleged that it was an irony that the Haryana police was falsely implicating innocent people while failing to check the continuous spate of heinous crimes of murders, abductions, rapes and lootings. They further alleged that the Congress government had resorted to such tactics and got even falsely implicated party supremo Om Prakash Chautala and others INLD leaders by CBI.
