The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) would support Gujarat chief minister Narender Modi who is likely to be projected as prime ministerial candidate in the 2014 general elections, senior INLD leader KC Banger said at a press conference in Sonepat on Sunday.
Former Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) chairman said: “Whether or not the INLD has alliance with the BJP in the state, our party will support the one which will work in toppling the Congress from power in the forthcoming elections.”
He said NaMo was seen as the only potential prime ministerial candidate who had the charisma to defeat the Congress.
Banger said the INLD had been supporting NaMo from the time of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
He condemned the recent decision of Maharashi Dayanand University (MDU) of removing the name of former prime minister Devi Lal from Ch Devi Lal Memorial Government Girls College, Murthal.
Banger said: “The vice chancellor of MDU may have been playing into the hands of the state government by taking such a decision.” Banger warned of statewide stir if any such decision was implemented by the university.
