Iqbal Singh unfurls tricolour in Puducherry

Puducherry Lt governor Dr Iqbal Singh unfurled national flag on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations in Puducherry on Thursday.

After inspecting guard of honour presented by the Puducherry Armed Police, he presented Lt governor`s Police medals to SI M Aroumougame and he Head Constable Sengeni Varadhan.

He took salute at the march past by various contingents of police, personnel of home guards, NCC, school children among others and presented chief minister`s and education minister`s rolling trophies to schools that had come out with outstanding performance in the pubic examinations held in March or April 2011.

Various departments and government undertakings presented tableaux depicting the highlights of their achievements and programmes implemented in their respective sector of developmental activities.

Chief minister N Rangasamy, Speaker V Sabapathy, Ministers, legislators of various political parties  were among those who were present.

Chief minister later unfurled the tricolour on the premises of the Puducherry assembly.
