In another grim reminder of the poor law and order situation in UP, four minor girls were raped in Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat and Bahraich districts on Sunday. In the first incident, a six-year-old girl was raped by two youths while two minor sisters were raped in a separate incident.

Police have arrested an accused in Muzaffarnagar while investigation is on to identify the accused in the Baghpat rapes.

The first incident occurred when the six-year-old girl was raped while taking food for her father to the fields. The accused took her to a secluded place and allegedly raped her. Profusely bleeding, the girl was found lying in the field after which her parents informed police. A complaint has been registered and the girl was taken to a government hospital, where her condition continues to be critical.

In the other case, the accused raped two sisters — four and six years old — Baraut town of Baghpat. The girls complained of pain and were taken to a nearby hospital where the doctors confirmed rape.

In another case, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man in Khairighat area on Monday.

In a complaint to the police, the victim’s father alleged that the girl was raped by Maiku (45) when she had gone to graze cattle Sunday evening. A case has been lodged against Maiku, who is absconding.
