The Andhra Pradesh police have arrested the coach of Jammu and Kashmir under-20 women’s hockey team for allegedly molesting some Punjab players on a train last week.

Cyberabad police commissionerate said Angat Singh was arrested on Sunday while boarding a train to Delhi to evade arrest. He was held at Ramagundam in Karimnagar, 210 km from Hyderabad. Singh allegedly molested the players when the teams were travelling from Delhi to Hyderabad for the National U-20 Women’s Hockey tournament.

The police said Punjab players complained about Singh to Andhra Pradesh additional DGP Tejdeep Kaur Menon, who is one of the tournament organisers.

“Some Punjab girls met me. They said they did not have any reservation and had to travel in the coach in which Singh was travelling with his team. Taking advantage of their helplessness, he misbehaved with them. He allegedly forced some of them to sit on his lap and did all sorts of nonsense,” Menon said on Monday.
