Putting to rest rumours of differences between the partners in the ruling alliance, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah swore allegiance each other.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a function in Budgam, Rahul Gandhi said he will canvass for Abdullah in the coming elections.

"I am a supporter and a friend of Omar. We have a government here together and we will rally together," Rahul Gandhi said in reply to a question whether he would campaign for Abdullah ahead of the general elections.

Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah also committed his support for the UPA. "We (NC) are committed supporters of the UPA. I do not see any reason why that should change," he said.

Some senior leaders in the coalition have been issuing statements against each other in the past. The most recent face-off between the two was over the control of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil, after a hung verdict in the polls held on August 22.

While the Congress got 10 seats, National Conference secured eight seats in the 30-member body, which has four nominated members, with both parties insisting on leading the council.
