Security forces on Tuesday cordoned off Ajar village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district after gunshots were heard in the area.

Official sources said that the contingents of Special Operation Group (SOG), army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off the village and started searches in the early hours.

Locals however said gunshots were heard after forces sealed all the entry and exit points.

Sources said firing was heard for around 20 minutes and intermittent gunshots were also heard.
