The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has sought a list of partymen who are contesting as independents against official candidates. The list would be sent to the disciplinary committee for taking proper action in the matter, said state BJP president Ashok Parnami.

Addressing media persons here on Saturday, Parnami said action would be taken soon as the last date for withdrawal of nominations for first phase of polls was over on Saturday afternoon.

“Action will be taken soon,” he said while evading a direct reply on the fate of senior party leader and former Union minister Jaswant Singh and former MP Subhash Maharia.

Singh is contesting as independent from Barmer constituency while Maharia has filed nomination as independent from Sikar. Such indiscipline generally invites a minimum of six-year suspension of those who contest against party candidates.

In the case of Singh, the final call would be taken by the party high command after nod from the parliamentary board. Singh has not left the party even though he did not withdraw his nomination.

Speaking on other issues,  Parnami said the Congress did not take proper action against terrorists due to which the anti-nation elements have spread their tentacles.

He congratulated the security agencies for cracking whip on such elements and arresting a large number of accused.

The party president also cornered previous Congress government for not being able to get Special Status for the state.

Meanwhile, the election committee, constituted met under the leadership of chief minister Vasundhara Raje, discussed further strategy. Though the leaders claim the party is going to win on all seats, the insiders said impact of independents and rebels was discussed at greater length.
