Kalpana Devi, wife of Congress candidate from Kota parliamentary constituency Ijyaraj Singh, can be seen sweating over her husband’s election campaign these days.

Since Kota parliamentary constituency comprises Kota and Bundi districts, Devi is helping Singh in covering the vast area falling under the constituency.

Similar is the case with BJP candidate Om Birla, whose family members, including father Shree Krishna Birla and brothers Rajesh, Hari Krishna and Narendra are also canvassing for him.

Om Birla’s father and brothers have remained involved in the cooperative movement in Kota, so they are actively campaigning for him. Since Birla’s candidature was announced late by his party, he has got less time to campaign. In such a situation, his family members are proving to be of great help for him.

In Jhalawar-Baran parliamentary constituency, Urmila Jain ‘Bhaya’, wife of Congress candidate Pramod Jain ‘Bhaya’, is also seeking votes for her husband. Urmila Jain herself was a Congress candidate from the constituency in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, when her husband was minister in the Congress-led government in Rajasthan. However, Urmila lost to BJP candidate Dushyant Singh, son of Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje then.

Present BJP candidate Dushyant’s wife Niharika Singh has so far not joined her husband’s poll campaign, but she is expected to canvass for him in the first week of April.

Niharika had campaigned in Jhalarapatan assembly constituency for her mother-in-law Vusundhara Raje during the last assembly polls in Rajasthan.

Raje was present during Dushyant’s nomination filing in Jhalawar recently.
